Neo continued fighting, whilst casting protective glances in Trinity’s direction. She looked totally skilled, so his worry seemed wasted.
A bold SWAT soldier charged towards him. Shield outstretched, intending to collide into Neo. Using his reflexes, Neo flipped head over heals. The world suddenly turned upside down. His opened palm crunched down on the soldier’s armoured skull. Using it like the ground, he flipped himself back over. His hard backed shoes smacked cement.
He twisted around, discovering the soldier swaying on his feet. Stunned. Neo sent his fist colliding with the man’s back, breaking the spinal column. He crumpled.
Neo continued fighting in a similar style, noticing the soldiers had started thinning. Wouldn’t be long until the forces sent more… They’d need to escape, unless they wanted to fight all day and all night. How?

Trinity looked around then noticed a door. She grabbed Neos' hand and pulled him through it. She shut the door and then leaned against it. "Got any ideas?"

He glanced around the new location. Despite his sunglasses, whiteness endeavoured to blind his eyes. Using his code vision, he stripped the décor bare, exposing its green infrastructure. The luminescent coding swirled downwards, like a waterfall or heavy rain. No other clues though. Just its shape. A hallway filled with opposing doors.
“Here?” he mused. “Again?”
Clutching Trinity’s hand tightly, he strolled down the corridor. The sound of drumming bullets and shouts having disappeared.
“We should choose a doorway.”

Trinity nodded and looked around. "But which one?" She asked looking at Neo. Her brown eyes then looked around behind her sunglasses. She didn't know which one, just hopefully Neo did and could get them both out of there.

His code vision proved useless. The green text merely constructed the door, but did not expose what existed beyond. Damn.
Neo would just use his gut instinct.
Still clutching the hand, he approached the nearest door. Pulled it open, exposing a deserted alleyway. He stepped into the street, looking left and right again. Nothing.
Glancing upwards, he noticed an open stairwell. The ringing of a phone issued above. Link?

Trinity looked up too. She heard the phone and then looked at Neo. "That has to be Link. But where exactly is it coming fron?" SHe asked as she looked upward again.

“Steps look like they lead inside. Telephone,” he mused. “Motel. Maybe.” As he spoke, more SWAT soldiers appeared. They lined the winding steps, guns pointed downwards. They started shooting.
“Shit.”
Neo grabbed Trinity around the waist. He flew upwards, wind screaming through his ears. Bullets zipped past his skull, narrowly missing the two bodies. The pellets instead smacked against the cement ground, chipping the hard surface. Holding her tightly in his arms, he zoomed towards the ringing noise. A platform above - unobstructed - led to the ringing.
As they neared the floor, a stray bullet whipped past and clipped his shoulder. The sharp scrape sliced through cloth and skin. He faltered, landing on the floor. The SWAT soldiers now below them. He released Trinity.
"The phone's inside."

Trinity looked at Neo and tilted her head. "You got hit." She breathed looking at the wound. She put a hand softly on it and then looked at him.
Trinity then turned on her heel and went to the phone. He held it to Neo. "You first."

As he reached the proffered phone, Neo gave Trinity a concerned glance. Forehead creased in worry. Mouth taunt and open. Hands clenched by his sides, knuckles white.
“Trin,” he started in a fearful whisper. “Please. You first.”

Trinity watched Neo's face tense and nodded at his words. "Alright." She put it up to her ear. "See you on the other side." She said right before dissapearing.

At her disappearance, Neo felt relief warming his body. Safe. Thank God. He knew. He knew. She could handle herself, but it never stopped the worry. Just one fluke. Just one too many enemies. She could die. She could die. He couldn’t lose Trinity. Wouldn’t. But… He felt something. Something bad approaching.
He replaced the receiver. Waited. Wondered how he could protect Trinity, without compromising her independence. Without molly-cuddling. Or overprotecting. Without trapping her.
The phone rang. He lifted the receiver. Exited the Matrix.
